Firelord00

Eaglemoss is still trickling out the last few pieces in their Classic Marvel Figurine Collection, and Firelord arrived today. He’s in scale with the rest of the standard line but is a little taller than most of the other figurines because his staff sticks up. Of course, the staff showed up a little bent, which is par for the course with thin accessory pieces on these figurines. They’re made of metal, so it’s possible to carefully bend the rod back into place, but I didn’t take the time to do that before snapping these photos. Sorry for the crooked pole.

SheHulk00

I didn’t have time to take new photos today, so I’m featuring an old photo set again, this time from late 2009. This is the She-Hulk comiquette, part of the Marvel series designed by comic artist Adam Hughes. She-Hulk has a lot of great detailing, from the way her outfit is ripping correctly along the seams to the texturing and sculpting on the statue base.

Kaylee00

I’ve posted several of my Firefly and Serenity collectibles here, and today you get to see another one. This is the Kaylee maquette from Quantum Mechanix’s Big Damn Heroes line. She was the first release in this series, followed up by the River statue I posted previously. I’ve had this Kaylee piece for quite a while, but I just opened it up tonight for the first time to take the pictures. The statue comes in three pieces: Kaylee, the Serenity engine base she sits on, and the little wooden strawberry box Book gives her. Usually statue pieces fit together with magnets and / or peg systems that hold everything together and stabilize the overall statue. This one has none of that, and you just perch Kaylee and the box up on top of the engine for display. The main problem with that is that the engine has a rounded top, and Kaylee’s bottom is completely flat. That results in some pretty precarious perching, and she actually tumbled off the base at least four times while I was taking the photos. If you get this one and put her on display, I’d highly recommend making use of something like museum putty to keep her in place, especially if you live in an area that’s prone to earthquakes or tremors.

Bullseye00

As a huge fan of Daredevil and Elektra, I wanted to have a villain specific to them in my collection, and that’s how this Bullseye statue from Bowen Designs came into my possession. He came with two interchangeable left hands, one holding a playing card and the other holding one of Elektra’s sais. Popular collectibles artists the Kucharek brothers sculpted Bullseye, and he released in 2009 as a limited edition of 1200 pieces.

InvisibleWoman00

Time for another Bishoujo statue from Kotobukiya! This time it’s Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman from the Fantastic Four. Kotobukiya likes incorporating translucent elements into their collectibles, and this character provided the perfect opportunity for them. They have her standing in some sort of monster’s hand and in the middle of turning invisible while building her force field around herself. I’m not quite sure why she’s striking an “Ain’t I cute?” pose while in the midst of a surely dire situation, but hey, that’s Japanese toymakers for you.

Jayne00

The very first collectible I featured for my current collectibles Project 365 was the Inara maquette from Quantum Mechanix’s Firefly and Serenity line. I have all the Little Damn Heroes figurines that have been released to date, so I’m featuring the Jayne one today. He comes with his infamous hat, a cigar chomped in his mouth, and his beloved gun Vera clasped in his hands.

BlackWidow00

Hong Kong-based toy company Hot Toys is very nearly the gold standard when it comes to the action figure business. They make super realistic and awesome toys in 1/6 (12 inch) scale, and they have all sorts of licenses ranging from Marvel to Star Wars to Predator to Metal Gear. This Avengers release is the second Black Widow figure they’ve done, the first being based on the character’s look in Iron Man 2. She is authentically sculpted from Scarlett Johansson’s likeness and comes with a whole bunch of accessories, including several interchangeable sets of hands, swappable stinger bracelets, two handguns (with working slides on top), and a Chitauri staff weapon. She also comes with a plain black display base, but I didn’t include it in any of the pictures I took.

DarkWillow00

Earlier this month I posted photos of the Glory Tooned Up Maquette from Electric Tiki’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer line, and today I’m posting Dark Willow from that same line. Electric Tiki made two versions of Willow, and this was the variant one. I’ll put up shots of the regular edition later. I really like this whole line of animated style statues, and they look great displayed together. As I said in the Glory post, I still hold out hope for more additions to the lineup, but it’s been quite a while since a new one has come out.

Supergirl00

I previously have posted the Amanda Conner and New 52 Supergirl busts, so here’s a look at the Women of DC Series 2 version! She came out back in 2009 and is a close contender against the Conner piece for my favorite Supergirl bust. DC Direct did a great job on the sculpt and especially on the paints for this one. She is limited to 5000 pieces (mine is #1149).

Skurge00

This past week, the final deluxe scale figure in Eaglemoss’s Classic Marvel Figurine Collection released. This is a collectible line that has been running for many years, and it’s finally winding down. There are still two or three standard scale releases that will be coming, but Skurge is the last of the supersized ones. Eaglemoss has ended their standard DC and Marvel series but now is making DC Chess figurines and Batmobile replicas. I am not collecting either of those lines, but you can bet I’ll jump back in if they revive either of these main series or pick up another license I care about (Star Wars, anybody?).
