Chell00

Celeste and I both are big Portal fans, so we were excited to get this new Chell action figure made by NECA. She’s very poseable and comes with her signature portal gun, which lights up with blue LEDs. The overall figure is really well done, and one of the coolest features is the detail on her spring boots. She also comes with a black display base that matches the floor in some of the game’s testing chambers.

Sinestro00

Today’s collectible in my Project 365 is the Green Lantern’s arch enemy, Sinestro. This one is part of the Villains of the DC Universe bust collection and was limited to 3000 pieces, back when DC Direct was numbering all their releases. I really like the villainous sculpt, and the colors ended up very vibrant. The base is Sinestro’s yellow power battery, and some of the yellow energy is bursting up to match the design of the Hal Jordan bust I posted previously.

Daenerys00

Back in my day, we didn’t know nothin’ about no HBO, and our throne games came on paper. Emilia Clarke was, like, three minutes old, and she sure as heck weren’t no Daenerys Targaryen. Them was the days. And this was what Daenerys looked like in the A Song of Ice and Fire bust series Valyrian Resin released, based solely on her description in the books.

Jason00

This is kind of a weird one. After having successful animated statue lines based on Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and some other properties, Gentle Giant looked to New Line’s horror franchises for inspiration. They released cartoony statues from both Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, and this is their Jason Voorhees animaquette. He’s in scale with the other statues in this style, and there are a lot of neat details worked into the piece. He’s stomping on a Camp Crystal Lake sign, and his overall look is creepy and goofy at the same time. The victim slung over his shoulder is a bit morbid, but this is Jason Voorhees we’re talking about.

LaraCroft00

Tomb Raider is a franchise Celeste and I both are into but that she especially loves. As such, we have a whole bunch of Lara Croft stuff on display around the house. This is one of the best, the premium format figure from Sideshow Collectibles based on Lara’s costume in Tomb Raider: Legend. As with all the premium formats, the figure is sculpted from polystone resin, and her outfit is sewn fabric. There are a lot of great details on this one, from the texturing of the base to her boots to the intricacies on Lara’s backpack and gear.

Leader00

It’s been a little while since I posted one of my Eaglemoss figurines, so here are shots of one of the bad guys from the Classic Marvel Figurine Collection. This one is called Leader and probably is an obscure one if you just follow the Marvel movies and not the comics.

Dawn00

Today’s collectible is another piece from my Dawn collection, based on the art of Joseph Michael Linsner. Diamond Select put out this Dawn Icons bust in the same scale as the small Elektra and Amidala busts I’ve posted previously.

WonderGirl00

This Wonder Girl bust is another piece from the Women of the DC Universe collection that I got several years ago. Overall it’s a cool collectible, and I like the Teen Titans theme of the base a lot. What I don’t like is that Wonder Girl’s star earrings are basically pieces of shiny red star-shaped confetti that have been glued to the sides of her head. That’s only really noticeable when you look closely (like when you’re taking photos), and she looks just fine on the shelf alongside the rest of the characters in this line.

Amidala00

The Star Wars Classics series came out several years ago from Gentle Giant and, by all accounts, was a failed collectible line. The busts released featured various characters from both Star Wars eras, represented as smaller-scale sculptures. There was a lot of backlash from collectors about the small sizes of these pieces, and that extended to a Lord of the Rings series they did in this same scale as well. Only a few characters were made in each line, and I thought they were all pretty neat little busts.

StarSapphire00

DC Direct made a subset of their ongoing Heroes / Women / Villains of the DC Universe bust series to cover the Blackest Night storyline that played out in the Green Lantern comics. They released a bust for each color of the Lantern spectrum for this sub-series, and Star Sapphire was the Violet Lantern character. She’s limited to 3,500 pieces, and her bust reflects the Violet Lantern ring emblem. They later came out with a classic costume Star Sapphire bust, which I will post here later.
