BlackQueen00

Earlier in this ongoing Project 365 I posted photos of Sideshow Collectibles’ Jean Grey as the Black Queen statue, designed by Adam Hughes. That’s a fantastic collectible, but it’s not the only representation of the character that has had a high-end statue produced. Prior to the Sideshow piece, Bowen Designs put out this Jean Grey in their standard Marvel statue scale. She includes a removable cape so that you can display her with or without it, and the whip is made from some flexible material that is affixed to the base to keep everything posed correctly.

MsMarvel00

I’m a big fan of Ms. Marvel and have a bunch of collectibles of her, but I’m pretty sure this is the first one I’ve posted here. These are some shots I took a few years ago of the Ms. Marvel Modern statue from Bowen Designs. At the same time they released this one, they also put out a Ms. Marvel Classic statue, with her in her old, original red and blue costume. I’ll take pictures of that one, too, eventually.

CaptainAmerica00

With today being the Fourth of July, I thought it only appropriate that I post photos of my favorite Captain America collectible, the Classic Cap statue from Bowen Designs. This one came out alongside a vintage WWII-era Captain America statue in the retro costume and with the “V” shield. I’ve always been partial to this classic look, so this is the one I picked up at that time. Cap comes with two display bases, one surrounded by silver stars and the other bearing the US eagle emblem.

SilverSurfer00

I previously posted photos of my Bowen Designs Galactus Scale Silver Surfer statue, and now here’s a full-scale Silver Surfer from Bowen. They’ve done a few different full size statues of him, and this is the one that came out in 2008. I really love photographing Silver Surfer pieces. I don’t know whether it’s the chrome look or what, but he’s always ridiculously fun to light and shoot.

Wolverine00

Here’s another one from Bowen Designs. They’ve made about forty thousand different Wolverine statues, and this is the Wolverine Classic Action statue. “Classic,” meaning he’s in his traditional yellow and black costume, and “Action,” meaning he’s in the middle of leaping onto someone he’s about to eviscerate instead of just standing around.

SilverSurfer00

Bowen Designs released this Silver Surfer statue to be in scale with their giant Galactus statue. I don’t have the Galactus, but I thought the Surfer made for a really cool mini statue, so I picked him up anyway. He really does look great and is a good accompanying piece to the larger scale Silver Surfer I got from Bowen later on.

Bullseye00

As a huge fan of Daredevil and Elektra, I wanted to have a villain specific to them in my collection, and that’s how this Bullseye statue from Bowen Designs came into my possession. He came with two interchangeable left hands, one holding a playing card and the other holding one of Elektra’s sais. Popular collectibles artists the Kucharek brothers sculpted Bullseye, and he released in 2009 as a limited edition of 1200 pieces.

BlackCat00

Here’s an old one that I somehow never got around to photographing until now. Black Cat was an early entry in the Bowen Designs Marvel mini-busts series, and she released way back in 2002. She was originally supposed to be limited to 6000 pieces, and that’s what her edition numbering lists. Only 5000 (still a huge number, compared to the edition runs you see these days) were actually made, though, and mine is #4839.

X-2300

Back in 2011, Bowen Designs created a X-23 statue as a website exclusive. In some ways it’s a shame that they made this one such a limited exclusive, because X-23 is a great character, and this statue looks fantastic. She was limited to only 500 pieces, and I managed to snag one into my collection at that time. The limited nature made her hard for a lot of folks to get before she sold out, but it did help rocket her value up on the secondary market.
