Arkillo00

Having photographed and posted the vast majority of my standard DC bust collection already, I’m now moving into the Blackest Night subset. Blackest Night was one of the later Green Lantern storylines in DC Comics in the years just prior to the New 52 reboot. The arc introduced many new characters, most of them aliens, who bore colored rings complementary to the classic Green Lantern ring and Sinestro’s classic villainous Yellow Lantern ring. The first one up here is Arkillo, another Yellow Lantern bearer.

LexLuthor00

Had enough DC stuff? No? How about some photos of the Lex Luthor figurine from Eaglemoss’s DC Superhero Figurine Collection? Yeah? Here you go.

PoisonIvy00

I’ve managed to keep up with a new post with a different collectible every day of this Project 365 so far. Last night, following a resounding crash of thunder, the Internet went out, and it stayed out until sometime in the middle of the night. Consequently, even though I had the photos ready to go, I couldn’t make my daily post for August 5. I’m counting this as not having broken the Project 365 streak since the outage was due to factors out of my control, and I’m backdating this post to the 5th so as to conform in calendar view. All that bookkeeping aside, here’s the Poison Ivy bust from series 3 of the Women of the DC Universe line. I’ve been posting a lot of DC girls lately, and I plan to shift gears a little in the coming days.

Dove00

Dove is the companion piece to the Hawk bust I posted earlier, and they are partners in crimefighting in the comics. The original Dove was male, but after his death in Crisis on Infinite Earths, Dawn Granger took up the mantle of Dove. This bust is part of the third Women of the DC Universe series and shares a base design with the Hawk bust.

Catwoman00

Catwoman is one of DC Direct’s favorite characters, based on the number of statues and busts they’ve made of her. This one is from the third series of Women of the DC Universe busts and is designed by Amanda Conner. Most of the statues and busts depict Catwoman in one of her various black costumes, but this is the only one to date to put her in her purple catsuit from the early to mid-’90s. I’m not positive, but I think Jim Balent is the artist who created this look for the character, and it’s still one of the best.

Zatanna00

I’m still working my way through taking pictures of all the DC Direct busts, and today’s collectible goes all the way back to the first Women of the DC Universe series. Adam Hughes designed this Zatanna, and she came with “real” fishnets like the Black Canary bust. It’s a neat effect, and I’m still convinced that it’ll end up making mint condition busts rarer as more and more eventually end up getting snagged or torn in people’s collections. DC Direct followed up with another Zatanna bust a while later, designed by Amanda Conner.

StarSapphire00

Star Sapphire made her first appearance in the Women of the DC Universe collection with series 3, the line designed by Terry Dodson. I’ve already posted photos of the Star Sapphire bust that released later as part of the Blackest Night subset, but this retro-styled version is my favorite collectible from this character. She’s in her classic costume, and DC Direct placed her atop a base cast in translucent pink.

Raven00

A while back I posted photos of the DC Cover Girls Raven statue, and today I took pictures of the bust of Raven that came out prior to that statue. This one was another piece in the third series of Women of the DC Universe, designed by Amanda Conner. She comes with the “T” bust to match her Teen Titans teammate Wonder Girl, from that same bust series, and she’s limited to 3000 pieces (mine is #255).

Batgirl00

Coming from the third series of Women of DC busts and designed by comic artist Amanda Conner, here’s another awesome Batgirl bust! Once again, they went with Barbara Gordon, and once again it’s a really cool collectible. I’d like to see some of the other Batgirls get their own collectibles, but the Babs ones they’ve put out all have been fantastic, so I can’t complain. This one is limited to 5000 pieces (mine is #2085) and captures Batgirl in the middle of her famous dance number in the Jack Rabbit Slims dance contest.

Hippolyta00

You’d be forgiven for thinking this was another Wonder Woman bust, but it’s actually Hippolyta. She’s Wonder Woman’s mom, so your guess would be close. My theory is that DC Direct wanted to make another Wonder Woman bust but realized they already had a ton of them in this collectible line, leading to the production of this one, which very clearly is not Wonder Woman (but might as well be).
