AaylaSecura00

Every year the various toy companies present limited edition items as exclusive products for the San Diego Comic-Con. Back at SDCC 2008, Sideshow Collectibles’ exclusive Star Wars 1/6 scale piece was this 12″ Aayla Secura figure. Aayla was a great character pick for the exclusive, but the figure itself unfortunately is a pretty poor one. Her head is way out of proportion to the body, resulting in a giant noggin sitting atop a spindly torso. Adding to that, the fabric outfit is pretty cheaply made. Aayla’s tunic has loose threads hanging off it and is just generally flimsy. I was disappointed with this one, and hopefully they’ll revisit the character at some point in the future to make a better representation that isn’t so cheap looking and actually resembles the actress who played her.

PoisonIvy00

Here’s a big one! This is the Poison Ivy Premium Format Figure, the first female premium format Sideshow Collectibles has released in their DC Comics license. Premium formats tend to be in 1/4 scale, so this is a pretty huge statue, compared to most of the pieces in my collection. She is in scale with some of the previous ones I’ve posted, such as the Baby Doll and Lara Croft. Poison Ivy comes in the box in several pieces to be constructed for display. Pegs on her feet insert into the round base, and there’s also a viney tendril that plugs into the base by her feet. She also comes with three different Audrey-esque plant heads that attach to the tops of the stalks around her. There are only two stalks for attaching, so you can choose and swap out which heads you want to display. Previous Sideshow premium format females have rocketed in value, and I’d be very surprised if Poison Ivy doesn’t eventually increase greatly in aftermarket sales as well.

Ringwraith00

I like Lord of the Rings a lot but am not anywhere near being a superfan like I am for Star Wars and assorted other franchises. One thing I really do like about LOTR is the movie character design for the bad guys. The Ringwraiths are especially awesome and creepy, so I had to have this legendary scale bust from Sideshow Collectibles. I believe it’s in 1/2 scale, so it’s a pretty big piece, compared to a lot of the other collectibles I own. The texturing, details, and everything else are extremely well executed on this one, and I’m happy with the way these photos turned out as well.

LaraCroft00

Tomb Raider is a franchise Celeste and I both are into but that she especially loves. As such, we have a whole bunch of Lara Croft stuff on display around the house. This is one of the best, the premium format figure from Sideshow Collectibles based on Lara’s costume in Tomb Raider: Legend. As with all the premium formats, the figure is sculpted from polystone resin, and her outfit is sewn fabric. There are a lot of great details on this one, from the texturing of the base to her boots to the intricacies on Lara’s backpack and gear.

HanSolo00

It’s been a while since I posted a Star Wars 12″ figure, so here’s my Han Solo Tatooine Smuggler from Sideshow Collectibles. He comes in the classic black vest outfit from A New Hope, and the figure includes a pair of interchangeable gloved hands, two guns, and the standard Sideshow Star Wars display base.

Dagger00

This Dagger comiquette came out from Sideshow Collectibles in 2009, and I was able to snag the exclusive version that came with a limited edition print of the artwork. It’s based on the art of Mark Brooks, and he did a few other Marvel pieces for Sideshow that I’ll be featuring here later. I took these pictures a while back, and unfortunately Dagger hasn’t been on display for a while. She’s still sitting in her box, waiting for me to figure out a proper display space for her in our current house, but we’ll get there eventually.

SheHulk00

I didn’t have time to take new photos today, so I’m featuring an old photo set again, this time from late 2009. This is the She-Hulk comiquette, part of the Marvel series designed by comic artist Adam Hughes. She-Hulk has a lot of great detailing, from the way her outfit is ripping correctly along the seams to the texturing and sculpting on the statue base.

SandtrooperTatooine00

I have featured a lot more statues and busts than action figures during my collectibles Project 365. That’s not because I have more of the statues but rather than action figures take longer to photograph, due to their range of poses, scale, and assorted accessories. Today’s feature is an action figure, though, another from Sideshow Collectibles’ Star Wars line. This guy is the Sandtroper Sergeant: Tatooine figure and comes with a whole ton of parts and pieces, as shown laid out in one of the photos below.

BlackQueen00

Sideshow Collectibles has a fantastic line of Marvel superheroines and villains designed by comic artist Adam Hughes. I’ve managed to collect all the pieces in the series to date, but this is the first one I’ve posted here. This photo set is from September of 2009, but I still like the way these shots turned out, so I didn’t feel the need to reshoot this statue.

Lando00

How many plasticized Billy Dee Williams totems do I own? Many. This one is the 12″ figure made by Sideshow Collectibles and comes with a pair of guns, interchangeable hands, and even that little Dick Tracy watch thing Lando used to talk to Lobot.
