I previously have posted the Amanda Conner and New 52 Supergirl busts, so here’s a look at the Women of DC Series 2 version! She came out back in 2009 and is a close contender against the Conner piece for my favorite Supergirl bust. DC Direct did a great job on the sculpt and especially on the paints for this one. She is limited to 5000 pieces (mine is #1149).

I’m not super crazy about Supergirl’s costume revamp in the New 52 comics. The teched-out bandy style supersuit matches the look of the other redone heroes, but there’s just something kind of lopsided about her design. Maybe it’s that her entire upper half is covered, waist to throat to wrist, but she has no pants at all. Kind of strange, and I think she could use some sort of leggings or even the old-style Supergirl skirt (like the Amanda Conner Supergirl I posted previously, which I prefer). Even though I’m not a huge fan of her new costume, I still like the style of these newest busts DC has been putting out. I’m not sure what Supergirl’s pose is all about. She’s either doing the swim or walk like a Kryptonian or something.
I’ve been working on setting up my office in the new house, and I turned a corner of it into a mini-photography studio over the past week. The goal is for me to have a convenient place where I can take more pictures of all the crazy stuff I collect. I’m going to try to do photos of everything I add into my collection from this point forward, and I’ll also go back and try to catch up on some of the older stuff I haven’t previously taken pictures of. It’s starting this week with the new Supergirl bust from DC Direct’s Women of the DC Universe series. The current line is designed by comics artist Amanda Conner. I’ve posted higher resolution shots on my Flickr, and you can see all my previous photos there as well.
